Earlier today I opened up the CLOG in three browsers: Firefox (2.0.0.7), Safari for Windows Beta 3, and Internet Explorer 7. As you can imagine, perfect compatibility for Firefox. Some elements of the site where a little messy in Safari, and IE had some major font coloring issues. All in all, the CLOG is still readable, but of course, I always recomend using Firefox to browse any darkTech related site, including mine :P.

Hello everyone! I would like to spend some time going through some old news I reported a few weeks ago, and update you on whats happening.
Company Renaming – In case you didn’t read this post a few days ago, Dark Tech is now officially spelled darkTech. Difference in speech? None.
New Company Site – I’m done screwing around with this. The new site will be up by October 8th, which is next Monday. I promise you.
WebPak – I have officially signed on 4 exclusive Beta testers outside of the Alpha ones (Alex, Tanner, and Steve). Two of them are web developers, and two of them are software developers. Not bad, eh? These guys will be recieving pretty close to nightly builds starting October 10th. I hope to have most of the bugs (if any) ironed out for a late October release.
Ouni – Ouni is going to come after WebPak as a plugin for it. Once I develop a plugin mechanism for WebPak (most likely 1.1), you can easily install Ouni via that.
Developer Center – The Developer Center will be in a public beta session starting October 10th, 2007 (the day of the Private Beta release of WebPak). You can feel free to read some information on WebPak, as well as edit the wiki with some information.
I also have some new news for you today regarding the site. I have decided to build a brand new Wiki system exclusively for the Developer Center, meaning no MediaWiki, etc. I will add a nice user control panel so people can edit there profiles and such, and yes, you can use your Ouni account for the Wiki/Developer Center on the darkTech site.
Some WebPak news. I developed a new function called connorsblog_imgext today, called the Image Extension function. It draws an image (duh), with a border that fits with the WebPak UI, and also allows you to enter in a caption for the image, displayed slightly under it. Cool, eh?
Apple sometimes sucks. Anyway… I have been busy the past several days, and no, not playing Halo 3… more running and doing other stuff besides computer stuff. So, what does my pleasure bring you today? How about some insight into the biggest project going on at darkTech, WebPak. What is WebPak, you say? It is a downloadable web development API. Why not host it ourselves? We believe in open source, so go ahead and download it. Edit it. Use it. We also decided to make it downloadable because if we release a new version, we do not want to break peoples websites. Thats not cool. Just download the latest version on the site, read the changes, make them to your site, and upload both the updated site and the new API. Bam, your done. So, what exactly does it do? Well, it makes developing a website that much easier. Using simple functions, for example, connorsblog_tab() and connorsblog_sitedata, you can create an amazing website by using a few of those functions. We also will include a beautiful CSS file, making your site look amazing from the start. Of course, you can change this to customize your site. Projected release date? Middle to late October for a finished version, probably second week of October we will have an public beta. By then the site will be up, so you can read some of the documents that pertain to WebPak. I am in the process of writing an intro to WebPak right now, and I will upload it to the Clog when it is done. Until I do, later.
EDIT: Uploaded.
Some Company News…
Sep 23
Today I have some updates about the company? Well… first off, we have technically changed our name, but not really. We are now darkTech, not Dark Tech. Some simple capitalization and spacing occurred, and simply, I like it. Fits with our new ideas. Anyway, you can check out the new text logo here. Cool, eh? Also, the new standard font is no longer Trebuchet MS (though it remains my personal favorite), its now Century Gothic. I like the way its smooth yet crisp, and it definitely works in the text logo I just showed you. Cool, eh? Well… I have some other news. I was originally planning on having a black-based website, meaning dark colors, even the background. But I changed that. Now its a white background, but I am keeping the darker colors as well, in things such as headers, etc. Its quite nice if I must say so myself. Usually I like to use as little images as possible in a site, mainly for our friends on dial up… but now that I look at it, people who come to our site (well, the new one at least), will need some sort of high speed connection for our various downloads and such. I may release a limited resource version of the site after the initial release, if I get enough complaints :P. Some more site news though… my friend Marvin Breedvelt as agreed to translate the site into Dutch for me, so a few weeks after launch (mid-October most likely), I will release a Dutch version of the site (located in /nl/) for our Dutch speaking visitors. More languages may come if we can get some translators. If you want to help with that, send me an email at: connor [at] dark-technology.com. I did it that way so I don’t get any spam :P. So thats about it for darkTech news today. Maybe some site screenies mid-week. Oh yea, I have a half day Friday, meaning I can do some major work… and I don’t believe I have a meet Saturday… awesome. Later.
